Making Potpourri Using Lavender Essential Oil

It is very simple to make a nice looking, and wonderful smelling potpourri using lavender essential oil in addition to your dried lavender and other flowers. Lavender potpourri is a very desired product, and often times you will find pre-made potpourri's containing lavender. But it isn't hard to make your own using a few easy to obtain ingredients.

The things you will need to make your potpourri are dried lavender, some orange peels, a few twigs of cinnamon, and you can even use some rock or sea salt for different textures. The types of dried flowers and herbs you can use are endless and you can really pick your preference of scents, and experiment to find your perfect blend.

After you gather your herbs and flowers you will need to obtain some sort of glass jar or container. You can find these easily at any hobby shop, such as Michaels or JoAnns. The type of container doesn't matter, but you will want something that is open at the top so the aroma can escape the container and fill the room with the sweet lavender scent.

Now you will want to take your dried herbs and flowers and crush them slightly, only so they are broken. This will help to release their scent. Then arrange them in the container to your liking. This is very easy, and it can really be thrown together quite easily and quickly and look like a million bucks. After you create your masterpiece, and it is to your liking it will be time to use your lavender essential oil.

You can simple drop a few drops into your container and immediately you should start to smell the lavender, or you can mix some other essential oils with the lavender to get a nice mixture. If you do decide to mix your oils, do so in a separate container and then add to your mixture, so you don't accidentally overpower your blend.

While the dried lavender and other herbs and flowers you use will leave your room smelling nice and fresh, adding some will boost up its scent, and can also help keep your blend from fading. Even if your dried products have lost their scent you can always just add some more lavender essential oil to perk it right back up.

Making potpourri is very easy, and with the addition of some essential oils, your potpourri blend can last longer and keep your room smelling clean and fresh! And don't forget to check out some other natural beauty benefits of lavender.
